In July 2020, I released my debut EP The Calgary Tapes, five acoustic folk songs, created while completing a Songwriting Scholarship from local musician Paolo Nutini. The EP immediately gained airplay on BBC the Roddy Hart Show on BBC Radio Scotland, Amazing Radio, Rapal on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal, BBC Social as well as scores of features in publications such as Scotland On Sunday, The Press & Journal and Tenement TV.
My 2nd EP, Magazine Girls, due for release on 18th March was written in collaboration with former classmate Dunt -one of Vic Galloway's 25 'Scottish Artists to Watch in 2021'. The EP is experimental in nature, combining my lyrics with the production mastery of the award-winning producer. My recent release, For You was championed by BBC Introducing, 'Single Of The Week' on BBC Radio Scotlands Afternoon Show, and BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal - Rapal while also being selected as a finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest (in association with the BRIT trust) and the Whouknow.co Creative Festival 2020. The single also secured me a space in Spotify editorial playlists New UK Pop - "Your future favourite popstars" and Scotify "The best new sounds from Scotland”.
BBC Introducing Scotland: "She's got some serious songwriting skills…we love her" - Phoebe I-H & Shereen Cutkelvin
BBC Radio Scotland Afternoon Show: "Gorgeous, soaring electro-pop" -Nicola Meighan
Amazing Radio: "Sounding like a Scottish Taylor Swift.....Rachel Jack just seems to pump out quality tune after quality tune". - Jim Gellatly - Amazing Radio
My 3rd single, Stop (released 11th Feb) was BBC Introducing in Scotland 's 'Track of the Week' and they had some AMAZING things to say about the track! - "It's really easy, in a way, to make a song about making cash money...but talking about feminist issues is scary in music. It's making a big stand to put that out there so Rachel, you need a round of applause from Shereen and I". - Phoebe-I-H. "She made a bop as well. .. its so well written and the fact that you can still bop along to it while listening to the meaning is just amazing." - Shereen Cutkelvin.
