Earlier this year, Rachel Jack released her debut EP The Calgary Tapes, five brilliantly written acoustic folk songs, created while completing a Songwriting Scholarship from none other than Paolo Nutini. Testament to just how good her songwriting is, it immediately gained airplay on The Roddy Hart Show on BBC Radio Scotland, Amazing Radio, Rapal on BBC Radio nan Gàidheal, BBC Social as well as scores of features in publications such as Scotland On Sunday, The Press & Journal and Tenement TV.
Her next single For You is released on 20 November and is taken from her second EP Magazine Girls. The song has already been played by Phoebe I-H and Shereen Cutkelvin on the new BBC Introducing in Scotland show. Drenched in shimmery, saccharine optimism, and inspired by alternative electro-pop royalty such as CHVRCHES, La Roux, Robyn, and Lorde, it signals a significant departure in style from her folky debut. Former classmate, DUNT (Stanley Odd, Shears) is on production duties.
