Hi, I'm Rachel.
Hello, I'm Rachel Jack, a singer-songwriter from the North-East of Scotland. In September 2018, I quit my 12-year career when I signed up for a year-long songwriting course at UWS. It wasn't a decision I took lightly, and you can read all about it in my blog. On the day I moved to Ayr, I learned that I'd been awarded a scholarship from one of my favourite musicians, Paolo Nutini, and I'm forever grateful for that opportunity. Throughout the year, I wrote songs that now form EP's The Calgary Tapes and Magazine Girls. I also collaborated with several songwriters on various briefs that you can find on my music page. I graduated with distinction in November 2019 and have since been pouring all of my time into recording and self-releasing my songs.
I'm delighted to have been featured as single of the week on BBC Introducing in Scotland (Stop), BBC Radio Scotlands Afternoon Show (For You), and BBC Radio Nan Gaidheal - Rapal (For You). My Song For You was a finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest, making it into the top 1.2% of 10,000 entries, and was a semifinalist in the International Songwriting Contest. For You was also added to Spotify editorial playlists New UK Pop - "Your future favourite popstars" and Spotify "The best new sounds from Scotland", as well as being a finalist in the Whouknow.co Creative Festival 2020.
My songs have also been regularly championed by BBC Introducing in Scotland, featured on the Tom Robinsons BBC Introducing Mix Tape on BBC6, Roddy Hart Show on BBC Radio Scotland, Shell Zenner & Jim Gellatly on Amazing Radio UK & Amazing Radio USA, BBC Social, Music Crowns, as well as scores of features in publications such as Scotland On Sunday, Tom Robinsons Fresh Faves blog, The Press & Journal, Snack Magazine, The Skinny, The Weekender, Tenement TV and SMIA to name a few.
Magazine Girls, is released on 18th March, 1 year since my debut single Nowhere was released. This EP was written in collaboration with former classmate Dunt, - one of Vic Galloway's "25 Scottish artists to watch" in 2021. It was a delight working with him and I'm so happy with how the EP turned out. If you are a fan of my music, please follow me on Spotify and add my songs to your playlists. Digital copies are available via Bandcamp and you'll also receive a digital download of my colour in lyric book!
Thank you so much for supporting my music,
